Automatic gages typically include a fixture that
holds the testpiece. This will be optimized for
loading by hand or machine, and may include
adjustable or moving features, in accordance
with the application requirements. They can be
used in any context, off-line through on-line.

Sensor subassemblies gather dimensional
data on the part. Sensors can be digital
indicators, LVDTs, digital probes, linear scales,
lasers or cameras, as needed. Data can be
gathered at test points or from scanned
regions.

Automatic gages can include electric or
pneumatic motion control to articulate sensors
or actuate upstream escapements or
downstream sorting mechanisms.
